Educational Trip

last Monday, In culture club class, I used to be a tour guide to show everybody The Liberty Bell. that was a good edcational trip, because I learned how to use my knowledge to describle the diractions, buildings, and history things. I was clearly remember the weather was fantastic and everyone used to be exsited about that trip. I inspared by being a tour guide who can improve my personal skills. I hope I will be a tour guide again in the future life.

After visiting Betsy Ross House

After visiting Betsy Ross House, I felt surprised about that I saw Betsy Ross and her husband's grave were there. And I hear from April that it was a common style in the past.

In addition, I think the gift shop is very special because they sell many souvenir and collectibles which are about some historic events and people in Philly. For example, Steve found that they have the first soda brand in the shop. Also, I saw there are Betsy Ross costume. Thus, I recommend to visit the gift shop in Betsy Ross House because you not only see many cute and historic souvenir about Philly but also you can buy them home!

Betsy Ross House is a well-known place because the first America flag was made by Betsy Ross in this house. The building is located at 239 Arch street in Philly and it was build around 1740. The style of building was from "bandbox" style house. Thus, there is one room on each floor and a staircase from down to up. In the past the house had many different owner. By the late 19th century many people feared that Betsy's home would be torn down and replaced with large industrial buildings and warehouses. In 1898, there were a group of citizens worked up the American Flag House and Betsy Ross Memorial Association to earn money to keep the house. Now, Historic Philadelphia ,Inc. has began leasing the property from the City of Philadelphia.

Fairmount Park

The weather was quit nice when we went to Fairmount Park. There were a lot of people were running, walking and sunbathing. Also, the trees and flowers are blossoming there so the views is really beautiful.

I feel interesting in sunbath culture here. I know it is popular here but in my culture I don't often see people do it. In my culture, many girls don't want to get sun-tan. It's very different that girls like to have white skin in my country than America girls like to get sun-tan. In addition, I remember I always only saw many grandpas, grandmas and kids in the park. I didn't often see teenagers, young people and middle ages but I often see many people from different age group here.

For me, I really like to go to park here because I think it's a good place for relaxing. Also, it's nice place to gain relationships between friends and families.

Last Monday, I went to Fairmount Park again. This my scend time went to that park. It was a really fantastic educational trip, because this time I with my teachers and classmates went to this Park. I remenber that day was very hot, we went long the Schuylkill River' bank. I toke lot of photos, and I saw many cherry blossom，daisies, maples and oaks. there many lovely ducks swim on the river. I feel very close to nature there and it is enjoyable.

In Fairmount Park, I recommemed you can do three sports in this Park, there are rowing boats, riding bicycle and running. It is a good location which you can enjoy the amazing natural enviornment and nice landscapes, you also can enjoy the fresh air in this Park.

To tell you the truth, Fairmount Park is my one of faverate Parks in Philly. I hope go to this park in different seasons.

I went to Fairmale Park with my classmate. It was so hot and sticky. Many people were riding the bike and walking. There was a beautiful river and landscape was good. I want to sketch the landscape of the park. Lot of mature man was running with naked. We had fun time and I want to go that park again.

Cultural Club

Last monday, our Cultural class went to a park. It was pretty far from the school and the weather was so hot made me to eggusted. But when we get to the park, the landscape was awesome and so huge. It was little bit crowed. The nice weather called all the people to come out from their house. we just walked through the course and took some pictures. It will be more great to go to this park at night and ride a bike. We also saw some cherry blossom. It was so beautiful and many people were take pictures with cherry blossom and also we took too. It was a hot day but was fresh experience and hope to visit again with my girlfriend.

Before go to Fairmount Park

Tomorrow we are going to Fairmount Park. I read some information from Fairmount Park website. In that website, I read about how big Fairmunt park is. Fairmunt Park is Philadelphia's Park System so it incould many different part. Also it is a non- profit organization. I am looking forwart to visit there.

Last sermester, I was struck by Fairmount Park which is a nature park near the Philadelphia Museum of Art. It is a large park beside the Schuylkill River. I can ride my bike or walk to travel the whole park. I see numerous different trees and flowers like: willows, daisies, maples and oaks. I feel very close to nature there and it is enjoyable. Next to the river is a pathway around the park. I can see some people row boats on the river and many ducks fly down to the grass. It is a beautiful landscape picture. It seems like a good relaxing place in the busy city. If I have some stress from my studies, I will go to this park with my peers. It is a good way for me to relax.

Last week I went back to Guangzhou China, I went to The Museum of Nan Yue Kings’ Tombs. It is located on Jie Fang Bei Rd opposite Yue Xiu Park. It collects all the excavations from Nanyue King's tombs the oldest and largest tombs of Han dynasty, say 1800 years ago. It covers about 14,000 square meters. I think what attracts me most is the history and culture that the museum reminds people. It collects and displays amazing archeological findings such as jade suit, jade ornaments, bronze mirror and ovens, musical instruments, potteries, gold and silver ornaments. You wouldn’t believe that those items were used 1800 years ago or even longer. To know the life of the city, I would recommend my friends to visit the museum . I believe it is the best place to know about Guang Zhou. It will be worth it.

Last Monday, I went to a exhibition on campers. That was a good show which make by Janpanese students, they were exchange studendts to the Uarts. The whole exhibition showed some individaul art work, all the art work included many troditional Janpanese art images and wards. I liked one of the art work, that was a small garden, it made by some paper and wood. I liked it because the reason was it contained a lot of Janpanese culture in that work. It looked like a mini house and you could go inside the house and saw many paintings. It atracted to me. I liked this show because I could widen my eye to know about other langarges and cultural things. It was a good chance to exchange my ideas with other students who were from other countries . (For the Nicole class, I need renew and fix my grammar for this blog) Ziyou.

Exhibition

I went to a illustration exhibition. The exhibition was the paintings by Leo and Diane Dillon. I went with My girlfriend. Because my girlfriend's major is Illustration, we went there to look and get some inspirations. It is in the Anderson Building on 7th floor. I liked the paintings in the gallery. He used lot of colors and most of them colored red. I will recommand this exhibition to the people whose major is Illustration. Even those people who has different major can enjoy the exhibition. It was not hard for me to understand.

The Franklin Institute

We went to the Franklin Institute for the Leonardo Da Vinci's workshop exhibition last Monday. It was a great chance to visit the Franklin Institute. In Da Vinci show I saw many his journal and some his famous painting such as The Last supper and Mona Lisa. They also made many model which from Da Vinci's journal. They not only showed the drawing from his journal but also showed the models so we can see the design in 2D and 3D at same time. There is one thing I really like is that they have some screen which we can use to look the paintings very detail. I love this function a lot! After seeing Da Vinci show, we walked around to see other exhibitions in Franklin Institute. I felt this museum have many things and displays for children. It's very different than the Da Vinci show because there are a lot of storyboard we have to read and I think the words and displays are a little bit difficult for children in Da Vinci show. Also, compare other exhibitions, other exhibition have more interactional tools for children. In addition, the words they used on storyboard are easier than the Da Vinci show. If people are interested in engineering, machine or architecture, I would recommend the Leonardo Da Vinci's workshop exhibition to them. Also, I think the Franklin Institute is very good museum for parents bring their children to go together.

Franklin Institute (Science Museum)

Last Monday, in our Cultural class, we went to a science museum named Franklin Institute. Lot of interesting things were there. I could be a weather anouncment and there was a big area, we could feel the earthquakes. Other than the Science museum, an exhibition of Leonardo da vinci was going on in Franklin Institute. I saw lot of his paintings and things that he created. It was very intersted and I bought lot of things from the market in Franklin Institute. Especially the glasses that I wear was most thing that I like.

I went The Franklin Institute. It had a lot of interesting exhibits. and there had paintings of Leonardo Davinci. But It was fake. and there were many interesting exhibits in first floor I had experienced it for fun. and close to my house I was comfortable.

Lucas Samaras-Photoflicks and Photofictions

I went to this show because Jungwoo talked about it on the culture club blog. I went to Rosenwald-Wolf Gallery in Anderson Hall for the exhibition. Before the show, I had no idea who the artist is. However, I feel it is very good and lucky chance to know Lucas Samaras and his artworks because his artworks are so cool and interesting!


His artworks look like dream look. I feel mysterious and enigmatic when I saw those pieces. I also saw some images are distorted and the style is similar surrealism.
There was one piece I feel it was very cool because it was like metamorphosis. And there was one series look like thriller! I have the pictures which I talk about that are showed below





Anyway, I would highly recommend the exhibition to other people because it is very cool and worth to visit it!

I went exhibition of Lucas Samaras. It was Photoworks. He is an important American artist who started exhibiting more than 50 years ago at the Reuben Gallery. It was Anderson Hall. I went there alone. I recommand this show to many people because it is very nice painting and has tuff brush strokes.

Japanese Exchange Students Create Collaborative Art Installations

I went to an exhibition with April and Ziyou. It was very lucky situation for me. It was like kill two birds with one stone. Before I started my first class in the morning, I saw the poster of the show on the entrance and it made me interested in it so I decided to see this show after class. Then April said if we go to see the exhibition, we can earn extra credit for class in our class. Thus, it was wonderful I could see this show which I was interested and also earned extra credit for my class! There are two different places that are holding this show, one is the Sculpture Gallery in Hamiton Hall and the other one is in Gallery 817 in Anderson Hall.

For me I really like one Piece in Hamiton Hall is this one:
I like the visual style about this piece. I feel it is very beautiful and also there are many paper cranes are holding in the air.


some people believe that if we make 1000 paper cranes and we can make a wish! Thus, when I saw those paper cranes, it gave me some feeling about happy and romantic.
I would recommend this exhibition to other one because there are still many piece which are very good and interesting!

Bowling class in Cultural class

Last monday, we went to the place that we could enjoy the bowling. It was far to walk and rained. But while we were playing the bowling game, I got very excited and it was fun. I was the top scorer for our first game but I was the last for the second game. It was such a small place so they have only six lanes but I liked more better. Because I was very excited, I spoke lot of English conversation with my classmates. It was very fun and I want to go there again with my friend.

In our cultural class, we enjoyed the bowl. we walked about 20 minutes to get there. I played bowling before so I had some pride to have the top score. But two teachers were played very well. Especially teacher April was so great even she is a woman. And teacher Steve played with a ball weighted 15 which was hevyest. We played twice and I ranked second both time. The bowling game place was pretty small but they were having everything they need. Shoes that I rent was clean and also the bowling ball was clean. So I played with the comfortable mind. Comparing with visiting Reading Terminal Market and Mutter Museum, having a bowling class was much fun and interesting. I hope we've get lot of chance to visit there and play bowling again. I am sure to be the first top score next time we play. It was not a short distance to walk there, while we were playing the bowling time went very fast because it was very exciting. Since the second game, teacher Mara also enjoyed with us. She bought popcorn for us. She was the worst player. But she seem like she was enjoying the bowling and also the class with us. She laughed a lot while she was playing so we also smiled and laughed.

Last monday, I went to a exsiting event in Philly. That was a Bowling game, the place is called Pep Bowl. It was a small place, but it included everything you want. For me, I really liked this place because this my first time went to bowling game, so I felt exsited.

At the begainning, my teachers with us played a one line game. We had six people play this game, I always got zero point because it was hard to make balance to the ball. I felt very disppointed, but, my teachers and classmates always encouraged me. they said:" Ziyou, next time you will do well." after that, I saw they play carefully. I learned some skills about the game. but, I still got last one. Finally, when we played the second time, I changed my posture and power. I could not believe I can do well this time. so, last time I got good points and my skills changed better than before. I felt very happy about that.

This event encouraged me a lot, I know one thing If you hard working and never give up you can get success. I holp I can go to play bowing game again.

Pep Bowl

Pep Bowl

Last class we went to Pep Bowl for playing bowling. It is located on 1200 South Broad Street. It was really fun. In the beginning, Ziyou couldn't play well but after played it more, he was getting better and better. Jihim always tricked jungwoo when Jungwoo was playing.They are so cute and funny! And April always did better at second round. Steve always super focus when he is playing ball. I don't know why I always have one more left. I think it was a really great time! I used to go bowling really often when my boyfriend was in America.

Compare my other bowling experience in America with this time, I think I feel a little bit surprised from this time. Fist, the location of Pep Bowl is an underground place, it's kind of basement. It's very different than the bowling place which I usually go. I usually go to Macdade Bowl which is not far from my place. Also, compare these two place, Pep Bowl is a small bowling place because there are only six lanes in Pep Bowl. I think there are over ten lanes in Macdade bowl.

However, I think Pep Bowl has very friendly touching screen for using and I love it! And the way of showing scores are different at these two places. One is also in touching screen, another one is appeared on TV screen.

There is a one more thing I like and I think it is cute is that I can see the balls are coming bake at Pep Bowl . I can't see my balls come back in Macdade Bowl because they use different system.

Anyway, bowling is one of my favorite entertainments and we just have to practice more and we can know how to play it well!
