

Betsy Ross House is a well-known place because the first America flag was made by Betsy Ross in this house. The building is located at 239 Arch street in Philly and it was build around 1740. The style of building was from "bandbox" style house. Thus, there is one room on each floor and a staircase from down to up. In the past the house had many different owner. By the late 19th century many people feared that Betsy's home would be torn down and replaced with large industrial buildings and warehouses. In 1898, there were a group of citizens worked up the American Flag House and Betsy Ross Memorial Association to earn money to keep the house. Now, Historic Philadelphia ,Inc. has began leasing the property from the City of Philadelphia.
